NOTES RE: BEAT STORY #1

BEWARE OF THROAT CLEARING:

Preparations for the Oxford Film Festival are being finalized as the date of the event approaches. This year’s festival is set to be the largest yet, with a record number of films,  three new venues, and more components, one of which includes a virtual reality experience.

MAKE SURE TO USE PROPER ATTRIBUTION/PROPER PUNCTUATION WITH QUOTES:

“The minor is growing, we are at about 90 students now and we are working on a bachelor of fine arts in cinema.” said Arrivee

“The incentive program in Mississippi has helped the industry prosper, the more money out of state productions use the more money they can get back.” Byrd said.

“This creates massive networking opportunities for local artists. You use to have to stand in line to talk to these people, now its as easy as approaching someone and having a conversation.” Bullion said.

Now 58, Tony Mize mans the restaurant from five in the morning to six at night Monday through Saturday, since he began working for The Beacon at the age of 20. “It’s the only job I’ve ever done.” He says.  “This is all I know.”

….according to Google. (CITE SPECIFIC SOURCE, NOT GOOGLE!)

DON’T RAISE MORE QUESTIONS THAN YOU ANSWER:

In addition, the festival is offering a brand new category to the festival this year called Virtual Reality….WHICH IS WHAT, EXACTLY?

SOME GREAT QUOTES – BUT BE CAREFUL TO PARAPHRASE LONGER QUOTES FOR A BETTER SET-UP:

“It was pretty cool being able to be there for the opening night vs. Alabama, it was jaw dropping!” Rhett said. “The fan support was completely different than what I was used to, this was a packed house.”

When asked what the fan base was like at The Pavilion, Brutus spoke about the similarities and differences between the two facilities. “I remember students running to get a seat on the opening day. It kind of reminded me of the Tad Pad my freshman year. That year we were ranked and won the SEC Championship and went to the tournament,” Brutus said. “Students didn’t exactly do that in the Tad Pad my freshman year, but I remember there were lines wrapped around the building because people wanted to be at the first game in The Pavilion.”

GOOD PARAPHRASING – BUT BE CAREFUL NOT TO BE REDUNDANT

As for Snackbar’s future, Stevens is optimistic at the idea of expanding to other cities.  “I think that would be a really nice direction,” says Stevens of the restaurant’s possible future direction.

NICE NUMBERS:

Sanders’ has more than 1.3million followers on Twitter and has experienced the most rapid Twitter growth this year, with Donald Trump following closely behind him. But Bernie’s popularity isn’t limited to cyber space, at his University of Iowa rally last Saturday night, Sanders drew crowds of over 4,000. Students waited in line for over 12 hours to hear from the Senator and his line-up of all-star supporters who catered to the millennial crowd. Vampire Weekend performed and actor Josh Hutcherson fired up the crowd of hopeful, excited voters.

TRIPLE CHECK SPELLING, ESP OF PROPER NOUNS!!!:

Jake Sesums, the creator and owner of Yoknapa Taco, is adding some clever ideas and delicious foods to this small town. “As a food truck I knew that we would have to create a model for future trucks,” Sesums said. Sesums set out to create the business on April 18th and hit the road in September. “I read the fastest time a business could be built was in four months, and they were right,” Sesums said

BE MINDFUL OF PROPER PUNCTUATION!!!

At last years festival, James Franco (127 Hours) was a fan favorite.
